The 13th annual Spagnolli Bazzoni Onlus Golf Tournament was a great success and Roberto arranged for the sun to shine on us all day!

On Thursday 12th June, 21 teams donned their golf shorts and sunscreen and set off on the 18 hole championship course of Luttrellstown Castle. The scores this year were very impressive, with our winners strolling in with a comfortable 8 point lead! Jeremy Fornasiero, Richard Lambe and Shay Phelan of Espion were the outright winners with 86 points.

Overall, the scores were much higher than last year, which goes to show what a little sunshine will do for your swing! Second place went to Mick Cormican, Mark Williams and Kevin Healy of BT on 78 points with Michael Curran, Wouter Meijer and Michael Barton for Pioneer Investments coming a close third on 77 points. The longest drive went to Mike Cormican for BT and the nearest to pin was won by Michael Barton for Pioneer Investments. Congratulations to all the winners.

The Spagnolli-Bazzoni Onlus are delighted to have such generous supporters who return year after year, and every year we are delighted to welcome some new and old faces. This year we raised in excess of €42,000 with many thanks to all of you. A special thank you goes to our Gold Sponsor Pioneer Investments, whose unwavering support is invaluable.

The auction and raffle proved very exciting and we would like to thank all those who entered a bid on the fantastic auction items and who bought raffle tickets. A particular thanks to all the companies who generously donated all the great prizes. With no administrative costs, all the contributions will go directly to the people who really need your help.

In Zimbabwe we continue to treat in excess of 1,400 patients affected by AIDS. The project supports patients and their families, giving them the means to live as “normal” a life as possible.

The next development was the San Marcellino Village. We have built a new school, devoted to the children of the village and to those of the neighbourhood and are delighted to announce that the school is already at full capacity for 2014 and 2015.

Finally, we launched the project for the prevention of cervical cancer, which is the first cause of mortality in women in their childbearing years. The first group of 20 doctors and nurses have already been trained and the project is now well underway. This would result in some 50,000 women screened which means that over 2,200 women will be saved thanks to this 3 year project.

These projects are on-going and we thank you for your continuing support.

We sincerely hope you enjoyed the day and we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
